Operation and Maintenance Guide
Chabret's know-how:
Each piece of the Chabret range has been designed for simple and daily use, to guarantee you a durable and healthy log for cutting your food.
We manufacture each log to order. That's why your piece is unique.
The shades and appearance of the woods are also unique. Also, slight imperfections may appear.
These imperfections are in no way defects but simply reflect the properties of a craftmanship combining the artistic work of human hands and the modernity of a robust manufacture. The quality of your log will not be altered.
Thanks to the specificities of our logs, the more you use your product, the better its beauty and durability will be.
First use
However, certain precautions must be respected in order to preserve the quality and effectiveness of your product.
During the first uses, especially the first one, you should oil your log with cooking oil (1 to 2 tablespoons to be spread with a clean cloth on all the surfaces of the log).
This will keep a better appearance and guarantee a very long life.
Interview
- Oil your log once a month with cooking oil, spread 1 to 2 tablespoons (for a 50x40cm log ) with a clean cloth on all the surfaces of the log to guarantee a better longevity.
- If the log is only used for decoration, it is strongly recommended to varnish it to avoid shrinkage or expansion.
- NEVER wet your log to clean it, scrape it with the blade of a knife or a scraper, this will remove excess moisture from the cut meat and keep the wood in perfect condition.
What you should never put your log through
- Bringing into contact with hot pots or dishes.
- Excessive proximity to forced-air heating or air-conditioning because these systems dry out the air.
- Overexposure to the sun behind glass.
- Too great a difference in temperature.
- Tighten it between two materials without providing for an expansion joint, when it is embedded.
- Place it during construction on a non-dry surface (plaster, cement still wet...).
Warranty
All Chabret "end" logs are guaranteed for 6 months against all manufacturing defects, as long as all the conditions listed above have been met. Only a possible manufacturing defect will be taken into account.
